Take A Step

MEDITATION

Take A Step

2 Samuel 15:3 "And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness."kjvlite

Point to ponder on: Faith in what you prayed for is demonstrated in your corresponding action towards your prayer points.

There was a story of a city that has been without rain for a season, hence believers organised a prayer meeting. Everyone gathered in the Church to pray. However, there was a family where the father and the daughter were preparing to go for the prayers and the daughter went for the umbrella. The father asked the girl, 'why the umbrella, it's not raining?' The girl said, "Daddy are we not going to pray that God should give us rain? When the rain starts what are we going to use to cover ourselves." The father hearing this was impressed and allowed the girl. Unfortunately, many adults who gathered in the church that were faith speaking didn't come with umbrella. This story tells us the typical life of believers with faith without corresponding action. It also suggests a religious activity without  faith except dedication to liturgy. Some believers are like the congregation in this story. We gather to pray, we speak in faith but our actions deny our faith.

David was an amazing king that got my attention on a simple prayer he made when he ran out of the city for his son Absalom. He asked God to turn the counsel of Ahithophel (King special adviser) one of Absalom's allies in conspiracy  into foolishness. In the subsequent verse David took a critical step which showed he believed God has answered his prayers but he must play his part. He sent Hushai to go and stay with Absalom at Jerusalem. "But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father's servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel."(v.34) David knew God would grant his request but God would need people as well so he sent Hushai ahead to make the work faster and trust God for performance. Absalom needed someone closer to him such as Hushai to consider Ahithophel' s counsel before his final decision. And so Hushai suggested something contrary and the king bought his own idea and despised Ahithophel's who was the King special adviser. Understand that God worked on the mind of Absalom to accept Hushai's advice instead of Ahithophel's, so no glory to man but all glory to God for answered prayers.

Beloved, when we ask God for something we know  according to His will for us we are on the right, let us take a further step of faith with our corresponding action. A student who prays for success in exams should ask for direction and read. A person who prays for job should search for vacancies and apply. Whatever corresponding action matches your request should be taken to provoke God into action. Take a step after praying, the Holy Spirit will lead you. God is set to satisfy you with answers to your requests. Take that step now. And every counsel against God's will for your life will be frustrated in Jesus name.

Good morning. Enjoy His peace.

I celebrate you.

David, Johnson
