Don't Make Christ's Death Worthless

MEDITATION

Don't Make Christ's Death Worthless

Galatians 2:21 "I refuse to reject the grace of God. But if a person is put right with God through the Law, it means that Christ died for nothing!" GNB

Point to ponder on: Grace made available for us what we cannot work for.

So many believers are rejecting the grace of God by subjecting themselves to traditions of men and religious rules hoping that with such they will please God. They place religious rules over faith in Christ Jesus and His work on the cross. They celebrate the cross but not living in the consciousness of Christ's work on the cross. Some people think they still have to do something to impress God to save them. If Christ died while we were yet sinners what else can we do when we are now made saints already by His death and resurrection to be put right with Him. "They have not known the way in which God puts people right with himself, and instead, they have tried to set up their own way; and so they did not submit themselves to God's way of putting people right. For Christ has brought the Law to an end, so that everyone who believes is put right with God." (Romans 10:3,4-GNB)

When we are trying to be put right with God through the law and trivialise faith in the work of Jesus on the cross, we are rejecting the grace of God. Law cannot make us right with God. However, that doesn't make us lawbreakers either, because His laws are written in our hearts and with the fruit of the Spirit, "against such there is no law."
"It was on the basis of the levitical priesthood that the Law was given to the people of Israel. Now, if the work of the levitical priests had been perfect, there would have been no need for a different kind of priest to appear, one who is in the priestly order of Melchizedek, not of Aaron. For when the priesthood is changed, there also has to be a change in the law. ... The old rule, then, is set aside, because it was weak and useless. For the Law of Moses could not make anything perfect. And now a better hope has been provided through which we come near to God. ... This difference, then, also makes Jesus the guarantee of a better covenant." (Hebrews 7:11,12,18,19,22-GNB)

Sequel to this, Jesus had to die the death of the cross and if we believe the observation of the law makes us right with God then Jesus' death was for nothing. "The Jewish Law is not a full and faithful model of the real things; it is only a faint outline of the good things to come. The same sacrifices are offered forever, year after year. How can the Law, then, by means of these sacrifices make perfect the people who come to God?" (Hebrews 10:1-GNB)  "His choice is based on his grace, not on what they have done. For if God's choice were based on what people do, then his grace would not be real grace." (Romans 11:6-GNB) Grace simplifies Christian living, let Christ's death count.

This grace will break protocols for you throughout the remaining months of this year in Jesus name.

Good morning. Enjoy His grace.

I celebrate you.
