MEDITATION
Is it all about here and now?
1 Corinthians 15:19 "If our hope in Christ is for this life alone, we are to be pitied more than all men." BSB
Point to ponder on: Hope in Christ pays here and now and also much more in eternity, hence, it is most important for every believer to keep eyes on eternity than this passing world.
I see everyone running to get their names on something, own something tangible, become famous and touch lives in their own definitions and concepts. So much energy exhausted daily, competition all over the place. Thanks to social media which has given mankind a great avenue for comparison and secret fight for likes and virtual followers, virtual image building with cracked self esteem. People who can't build homes and keep their family together are more conscious of virtual followers than real people in their lives. There is so much craziness in the air. The church that should be to complete the saints is now used for competition as if Christ is divided against Himself. All because people want recognition, acceptance, fame, name and they forget the life after here and now. People seek the gift of the giver but not interested in knowing the giver because they want to rub shoulders with people in their field. It is amazing how we think life is all about here and now. If God doesn't do it when some people desire it they become desperate to seek for alternative either through looting or diabolic means. Patience seems to only exist in the ancient dictionary of mankind. If a church doesn't talk about riches and prosperity, or ways to succeed people are quick to change loyalty to where such messages are preached. They want to show the world, impress the world that has no concern for them that they have arrived. Even the elect are getting carried away losing sight of eternal values and dwelling more on earthly things.
God wants us to prosper and live a quality life here and beyond."Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers."(3John2-kjv2k)"... I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."(John10:10b-kjv2k) However, we must remember our life is transitory and it's beyond here and now. "Because what profit will a person have if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what can a person give in exchange for his life?"(Mat. 16:26-ISV) Our hope is beyond the gains of this world and it is wise for us to consider what qualifies us for eternity and not just be satisfied with the one that is limited for here and now.
Therefore, whatever we gain or lose in this world should not blind us from the world to come. Think about a thousand years with the LORD and the New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven- the new earth without sea. Think about our eternal home, the holy city where God dwells with His people. "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God is its light, and the Lamb is its lamp." (Rev. 21:1,2,23-kjv2k) Hallelujah!
Our hope is beyond here and now, so keep the big picture in mind as you live daily.
Good morning. Enjoy a pleasant day.
I celebrate you.
