MEDITATION
How People Fall from Grace
Galatians 5:4 "You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace." NIV
Point to ponder on: The way off the grace is dependence on efforts of self and works to be justified while the way to uphold grace is through faith in Christ Jesus.
The law of Moses was amazing and given by God. "So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith." (Gal.3:24-NIV)The law was added because of transgression until Jesus to whom the promise referred had come. But now that faith has come through Jesus Christ, we are no longer under the supervision of the law. We become sons and daughters of God through faith in Christ Jesus and not by observing the law of Moses. If law could impart life then righteousness would certainly have come by law. "But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe."(Gal.3:22) Now justification is only by faith, and not faith and works. Therefore, if anyone is trying to observe the law to be justified such a person would never be able to keep to the law and apart from that, the person has fallen from grace. To seek for justification through works by observing the law is a fall from grace.
"For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision avails anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; You shall love your neighbor as yourself."( Gal.5:5,6,14-kjv2k) Our access to Christ is through faith and our salvation is by grace though faith in Christ Jesus. "For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."(Eph.2:8,9-kjv2k)
Therefore, we must constantly remind ourselves and be conscious of this fact that justification is by faith only and not by observing the law of Moses in order not to cut off ourselves from Christ and hold on to grace. "But you, friends, are well-warned. Be on guard lest you lose your footing and get swept off your feet by these lawless and loose-talking teachers. Grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ. Glory to the Master, now and forever! Yes! (2 Peter 3:17-18-MSG) Keep faith alive in Christ Jesus and stay in grace.
Good morning. Enjoy His grace.
I celebrate you.
